Our measures
Five steps to safe, accurate stories
Accuracy, verification and data protection are incredibly important to us. That’s why we diligently follow this five-step process to make sure your child gets safe, accurate information in their stories, and that their data is held securely.
Every Rooted story starts with research from people who know the culture firsthand. Before any story reaches your child, a native speaker reviews it for accurate language, natural everyday phrasing and respectful cultural detail. If something doesn’t sound like home, it doesn’t go out.
- Researched with the community: stories are built with input from people who grew up in the culture.
- Reviewed by a native speaker: every story is checked for language and cultural accuracy.
- Fixed fast: if you spot something that’s off, tell us and we’ll correct it.
We use AI to help draft stories and bring them to life with natural narration, so we can offer more stories in more languages. But AI alone isn’t enough for something this personal. A person reviews every story before it’s published, and families can always flag anything that doesn’t feel right.
How is this different from ChatGPT?
A general AI tool can make mistakes with less common languages and cultural details. Rooted stories are designed for children and reviewed by native speakers.
We collect only what we need to make Rooted work for your child, such as [their first name, age and language level] to personalize stories, and [listening progress] to bring back the right words at the right time.

With Custom Tales, stories can be read in your voice or a grandparent’s. We use voice recordings only to create your family’s stories. They’re never shared, never used for anything else, and you can delete them anytime.
